How can I reattach the ribbon cable to the motherboard on my Samsung RV510 laptop?

Hi,

I had to open the entire keyboard on my Samsung RV510 to clean out some components which are now fully functioning.

However, I am finding it incredibly difficult to reattach the ribbon cable to the motherboard, as the keyboard itself is not detachable; everything is attached together. If anyone knows an easy way to reattach the components easily, especially the ribbon cable, that would be very helpful.

ThanksHow can I reattach the ribbon cable to the motherboard on my Samsung RV510 laptop?i agrr with ebox the keyboard is detachable and usually from under neath the laptop.

i was also wondering if the ribbon is not attached how you know all the components you cleaned are fully functionalHow can I reattach the ribbon cable to the motherboard on my Samsung RV510 laptop?the keyboard is detachable, at least from the mainboard and casing. Which ribbon is it that you can not seem to reconnect, there are several of them?

basically they all have the same type of locks to hold the ribbon in place. Lift the edges of the lock up and the ribbon slides in place, press the lock down to secure the ribbon. The lock will either be a bar that lifts centrally (all the way across in one go) or have two lift points, one at each corner. If you don't lift it the ribbon will not go back in place, once in place when you press down the lock clamps the ribbon.

Many ribbons are quite short and you may need to perhaps remove some cards that have attached ribbons to be able to get the right angles to lock things in. The keyboard on most laptops has to be stood up on its top edge, whilst you try and lock the ribbon in place from a very narrow space under the lower edge. A small flat bladed screwdriver will help, but make sure it is not sharp edged or you risk puncturing the ribbon and it may then no longer function.
