my fiance will be buying the new samsung 3d tv and i wanted to get the home theatre/surround sound system to go with it for his birthday. are there specific ones to go with it? what will be compatible?

You will need an 'Audio/Video Controller' that accepts an HDMI 1.4 pass, or in other words, 3DTV ready. The controllers likely will not come with speakers so they must be purchased separately. A normal surround sound set of speakers include 2 Front speakers, 2 Rear speakers, 1 Center speaker, and 1 Sub-Woofer known as 5.1 surround sound. Add 2 more, Left %26amp; Right Side speakers for a 7.1 specification.
I'd go Onkyo or Pioneer for the controller, and just stick to domestic (american) speakers.|||You left out a huge part. Price range.
