We just purchased Bose庐 - 161 speakers and are trying to connect them via our Pioneer SX255R receiver to our Samsung LN46C670 HDTV. We have the speakers connected to the receiver and are pretty confident that it was done correctly. We CANNOT figure out how to connect our receiver now to our TV.
Also, we noticed that our DVD player, has an HDMI cable outlet in the back...do we need to get an additional HDMI cable to connect our DVD player to our TV and have our DVDs play in HD?

I think that you will need something like this.
Your TV apparently only has Optical (Digital) Audio Output, %26amp; your receiver only has Analogue inputs.
You will need to find a way of converting the digital audio signal down to an analogue signal.
In order to watch your DVDs in HD, yes you will need a HDMI cable to run from your player to the TV.
